  1. Hi John—Yes, I do get up too early. This picture was taken about 6:20 in the morning. The golden towers—lit by the sun—are actually in Queens. I was in Manhattan. The reason for the emptiness—besides the early hour–is that I was in an area known as Tudor City. (This is where I live now.) Right next to the UN in Manhattan there are two small rock outcroppings about 50 feet high. They are joined by a bridge across 42nd Street. Because of the suddenness of the elevation, there is only one way up and one way down. It tend to be an isolated area right in midtown. It’s quite pretty there.

  2. You are up too early Jim! Nonetheless this is a beautiful photo – calm, and somewhat melancholic perhaps, though that might be in my mind.
